Jermaine Dupri is helping Atlanta residents get free vegan burgers as they wait in line to vote.

The rapper teamed up with Atlanta-based burger joint Slutty Vegan and plant-based meat company Impossible Foods. Together, the trio kicked off a “potential yearlong campaign to feed different communities as they exercise their right to vote.”

“I saw a couple of post[s] where people were saying the voting lines were extra long and there was no water, food, or anything,” Dupri wrote on Instagram.

“So, I got with Slutty Vegan, a Black-owned business, and Impossible Foods and we decided to give out free Impossible Burgers to those exercising their right to vote,” he continued.

The campaign launched on June 9 for Atlanta’s Primary election day at Ralph Bunche Middle School. It has yet to announce the dates and locations for its upcoming vegan burger giveaways.

Founded by Aisha “Pinky” Cole, Slutty Vegan is popular among locals and celebrities alike. As well as Dupri, famous fans include Snoop Dogg, Tyler Perry, and Tiffany Haddish.

Its menu includes themed burgers like the Fussy Hussy, the Super Slut, and the One Night Stand. All feature plant-based patties, a variety of toppings like vegan bacon and dairy-free cheese, and the restaurant’s signature Slut Sauce.

Jermaine Dupri: ‘Lose The Meats’

Grammy-award winning rapper Dupri has been vegan for more than a decade. He first decided to ditch meat, dairy, and eggs after participating in a 25-day cleanse.

“The energy I had, the way I felt, I just tried to figure out at that point how could I keep this same feeling. People were like, ‘well you should be vegan,’” he said for a 2018 campaign that encouraged people to “feel the beets, lose the meats, go vegan.”

“The vegan lifestyle, to me, is the best lifestyle. And I want to get the world into this,” he added.

Dupri partnered with animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for the campaign. In a video and a series of ads for the campaign, Dupri urged millions of his fans to go plant-based.

“I want the world to know the vegan lifestyle, to me, is the best lifestyle,” Dupri explained. “I feel like anybody that has a problem with their energy level being right, tired all the time, you can definitely feel the difference. A vegan lifestyle puts you on that track to just be healthy.”
