The first trailer for the highly-anticipated “It: Chapter 2” just dropped today and it looks like the stuff of nightmares. Set 27 years after the 2017 blockbuster horror film “It,” the trailer opens with vegan actor Jessica Chastain as adult Beverly, returning home to Derry, Maine.

The two-part horror series is a new adaptation of Steven King’s 1986 novel “It” — a tale of seven kids (The Losers Club) terrorized by an omniscent shapeshifter taking the form of the Pennywise the Clown. Throughout the film, the supernatural entity is unrelenting in his deadly pursuit of the The Losers Club, changing and contorting his body at will into terrifying forms.

Pennywise is seemingly vanquished at the end of the first movie and the kids swear a blood oath to return to Derry if he ever returns. The second trailer opens with Chastain visiting Beverly’s traumatic childhood home, where its new elderly resident delivers the foreboding line: “[Y]ou know what they say about Derry… No one who dies here ever really dies.”

Obviously, we all know this means Pennywise is back and ready to haunt our dreams. Watch the trailer below.

Jessica Chastain the Vegan

The Golden Globe winner has been vegan since 2005. Chastain revealed in a 2015 interview with W Magazine that she made the switch to a plant-based diet for health reasons. After learning that she had high cholesterol, the 42-year-old actor said she her doctor wanted to put her on medication.

“I said that seems crazy! This was like 12 years ago, so yeah, I was in my 20s, and I thought I don’t want to start taking cholesterol pills,” Chastain explained.

A friend of hers gave her two weeks of a vegan meal delivery program, which boosted her energy levels immediately. However, her lifestyle switch wasn’t yet set in stone: after the two weeks were up, Chastain dined on seafood risotto at a restaurant, and her body’s response is what pushed her toward veganism.

“Being vegan was not anything I ever wanted to be. I just really was listening to what my body was telling me,” she said. The “Zero Dark Thirty” star said her diet has improved her energy levels and helped her skin clear up.

The mother-of-one is also an animal lover who advocates for pet adoption and once partnered with the HSUS (Humane Society of the United States). In a 2014 episode of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” Chastain spoke out against gestation crates for factory farmed pigs, calling the industry practice “cruel.”

“It: Part 2” releases on September 6, 2019.
