Kendall and Kylie Jenner Launch Vegan and Faux Fur Jacket Line at Macy’s

Celebrity sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner have teamed up to release vegan and faux fur jackets as part of their clothing line Kendall + Kylie, beauty and fashion magazine Seventeen reports.

The “shockingly affordable” collection includes puffer coats, frayed denim, and cropped jackets and is available at leading fashion retailers like Macy’s, Ardene, and Selfridges.

Some items in the collection feature vegan faux fur, like the Kendall & Kylie Crop Fur Jacket. Made with acrylic, the jacket features a hook closure and outer pockets. The full lining is made with polyester. The collection also includes vegan versions of specific animal fur, such as the faux rabbit fur jacket and the faux mink fur coat. Vegan fur vests, clutches, and backpacks are also available.

Also in Kendall and Kylie’s line is a bomber jacket that features long sleeves lined with cruelty-free fur. The “Insta-worthy” jacket is “proof that adding a little faux fur never hurts,” according to the item’s description.

Vegan fur is becoming more popular as more consumers look to support ethical brands and avoid products linked to animal cruelty. The fur industry is known for its lacking animal welfare standards, whereby animals are subject to electrocution, gassing, traps, and being skinned alive.

Various celebrities have spoken out about the cause, including Kendall and Kylie’s sister Kim Kardashian West. Kardashian West and Melania Trump both ditched fur after vegan actor and activist Pamela Anderson reached out to them to speak about the horrors of the fur industry. Bill Bailey, Lucy Watson, Judi Dench, and Ricky Gervais have all encouraged fans to ditch animal fur whilst campaigning for a “fur-free Britain.”

Alongside this shifting consumer preference, major names in the fashion world have decided to discontinue using animal fur in their products. Designer Jean Paul Gaultier ditched fur from his designs due to animal welfare concerns, as did luxury designer Diane von Furstenberg. FashionBurberry vowed to remove fur from future collections and Chanel said it would stop using fur and exotic animal skin in its products.

Meanwhile, government bodies, such as the United Kingdom’s Labour Party and the Los Angeles city council, consider bans on fur.
