Cruelty-Free Beauty Brand Lush Launches 40 Shades of Vegan ‘Slap Sticks Solid Foundation’ for All Skin Tones

Popular cruelty-free beauty brand Lush is launching a new line of vegan foundation. Called “Lush Slap Sticks Solid Foundation” the new collection consists of foundation sticks made from skin-softening oils in a range of 40 shades in warm, neutral, and cool undertones.

Coverage is buildable and the foundation provides a dewy finish. According to Lush, the Slap Sticks Solid Foundation line was created to “look incredible, feel invisible, and do amazing things for your skin as well as the community projects we source the ingredients from.”

The new foundation features skin-pampering ingredients such as Peruvian jojoba oil, which helps pigments blend evenly while candelilla, sunflower, and Turkish rose waxes help color last throughout the day. Indonesian coconut oil keeps skin hydrated. True to the brand’s commitment to supporting underprivileged populations, the raw materials are fairly sourced from low-income communities.

Lush cites supporting working women and children in education as a “key focus” of the new makeup. Ten percent of the profits from the purchase supports a non-profit organization that funds literacy classes and a dentist on the Indonesian island of Nias.

In addition to being vegan and cruelty-free, Lush’s Slap Stick foundation comes without plastic packaging or wrappers. Instead, each solid formula is partially dipped in a peelable wax. For those who order online, the foundation will arrive in a recycled cardboard box.

“Making foundation, a staple in many peoples daily routine, solid, is a major leap forward to reducing plastic packaging without compromising on quality or effect,” said Rowena Bird, Lush Co-founder and Product Inventor. Lush’s decision to make the new foundation plastic-free is part of the brand’s continued effort to reducing plastic pollution. Earlier this year, the company opened its first-ever “naked” shop in Milan, featuring plastic-free jelly bombs.

Similar to the new Slap Stick foundation, earlier this year California-based vegan beauty brand ColourPop launched its “No Filter” foundation collection featuring a diverse range of 42 shades in warm, cool, and neutral tones.

The new collection will be available for a one month only, starting June 28, in UK stores and through the UK Lush website. No announcement for a US launch has been made.
