New Vegan Restaurant Green House Modern Vegan Kitchen to Bring Plant-Based Cuisine to Tampa

A new vegan restaurant, which aims to transform the way diners see plant-based food, is expected to open in Tampa’s Seminole Heights neighborhood, Creative Loafing Tampa reports.

Called Green House Modern Vegan Kitchen, the new vegan eatery is the creation of chef-owner Brett Wright, a local chef with 25 years of culinary experience. Wright, who has been working towards making his fine-dining restaurant concept a reality for five years, will offer a seasonal menu with fresh, local fruits and vegetables. All menu items will be inspired by dishes Wright loved during his childhood and his travels around the world.

“I wanted to find dishes I love and substitute the meat for vegetables with a spin to remind patrons of the original dish. These are elevated dishes I make at home for my family,” chef Wright said.

Once the restaurant is fully operational, Wright plans to purchase a plot of land that can be used to grow his own ingredients, as well as a greenhouse that can protect more delicate produce from the hot Florida sun. The chef has already installed a herb and edible flower wall within the soon-to-open restaurant, grown from seeds collected from across the nation.

Additionally, Wright wants to use the new space to uplift culinarians in the community. On Sundays, Green House will host pop-ups featuring dishes created by local chefs. In addition, the restaurant owner is working on a second concept: a “cafeteria-style” food hall that will allow small food businesses to test their wares. “I want to use my space to help those who are beginning their journey as it was done for me by other chefs,”  he said.

Wright’s support of the local community at Green House extends beyond supporting others in the food business. For the time being, the restaurant is BYOB, but eventually, he will feature fermented liquor crafted by a graduate of Rhode Island’s Johnson & Wales University. Green House’s walls will be decorated with photographs of the Tampa Bay area captured by photographer Frantz James Galliard.

Green House Modern Vegan Kitchen is slated to open in late August.
