Belfast, Northern Ireland is set to host its first ever “Face-Free Food Fair.” The vegan event will play host to plant-based food, drink, and product vendors from the local area.
Set to take place in the Sunflower Bar on Union Street, guests can also expect workshops, which will be held upstairs, with the food, drink, and various product vendors stalls set up in the beer garden area.
“[The Face-Free Food Fair is] a small and friendly event that aims to bring together the local vegan products you love from traders you know and some new ones you’ll want to try, all in one place – the completely non-stressy beer garden of The Sunflower,” note the organizers on the event’s Facebook page.
“With handpicked local traders outside, and a few workshops upstairs, we want the fair to be enjoyable, relaxed, and interesting, focused on the practicalities of being vegan in the real world and supportive of local businesses,” they add. “We will be announcing the traders and speakers in the run up to the date.”
Current revealed vendors include Another World Belfast, a nonprofit humanitarian aid organization selling vegan body scrub, chili sauce specialists VeganBelfast, and Plumpybalms, selling vegan lip balms and tints. Glauce Lucas, a vegan parent, will also be speaking at the event. “Glauce will share her journey as a vegan parent; the challenges and the joys,” state the organizers. “If you’re currently raising a vegan family, or contemplating it, we think you’ll enjoy this.”
Across the UK, vegan events, fairs, and festivals are in abundance. In Bath, the city’s first ever vegan festival recently took place — organizer Victoria Bryceson told Somerset Live “with the vegan lifestyle really starting to go mainstream there’s a massive demand for vegan-friendly events.” Further, in London, a month-long plant-based festival is about to kick off on Brick Lane, named “V For.” The event will host food and drink vendors, free yoga and mindfulness classes, and ethical fashion and beauty stalls. Vegan athlete Tim Shieff will even put in an appearance at the festival, with his cruelty-free fashion line aptly named “ETHICS.”
The Belfast vegan fair will take place on Sunday, August 19, and the entry is free — however, traders will be asked to make a small contribution to local charity Belfast Street Paws.
