Beyond Meat Takes Over Carl's Jr. Menu for Earth Day

Carl’s Jr. just rolled out a vegan meat menu for Earth Day.

The completely plant-based meat menu features vegan meat by California-based brand Beyond Meat. 

“We are excited to give our fans a fun, delicious way to celebrate Earth Day this year with a full plant-based meat experience at Carl’s Jr.,” Patty Trevino, senior vice president of brand marketing at CKE Restaurants, said in a statement.

She added: “With nearly one-third of consumers identifying as flexitarian, we continue to innovate on new ways for our guests to enjoy our iconic charbroiled burgers with our Beyond Meat partnership.” 

Customers who are not based in Los Angeles can still try the Carl’s Jr. and Beyond Meat mashup. The chain is selling its Beyond Burger for five dollars, with an email offer. They’re available at participating Carl’s Jr. restaurants across the country.

Beyond Meat’s chief creative officer, Beth Moskowitz, says the partnership will help more people try plant-based food products. “As leaders in plant-based innovation, we are thrilled to partner with Carl’s Jr. to bring its unique pop-up experience to life,” she explained in a statement.

“This Earth Day initiative increases accessibility to a variety of delicious, nutritious and sustainable offerings that Carl’s Jr. fans will love,” she added.

The “one-of-a-kind” menu is available today only at the Carl’s Jr. located at 424 W. Los Feliz Road in Glendale. Customers can order three items from the all-Beyond Meat menu until 9 pm or while supplies last.

Carl’s Jr. Goes Beyond

The fast-food chain first partnered with Beyond Meat back in December 2018. Its addition of the charbroiled Beyond Famous Star to its menu became its most successful burger launch of 2019.

“We know people are looking for options—in fact, roughly one-third of consumers identify as flexitarians—and we’re thrilled to partner with Beyond Meat to bring more delicious, irresistible flavors to our menu,” Jason Marker, CEO of Carl’s Jr. parent company CKE Restaurants, said in a statement. “The new Beyond Famous Star is a true industry game changer, and we’re proud to add it to our roster of innovative offerings and build on the legacy of mouthwatering flavors.”

In just one year, the chain sold 4.5 million Beyond Meat burgers. To date, Carl’s Jr. has sold nearly 12 million.

According to Carl’s Jr., the partnership made it the “first national quick service restaurant to offer a plant-based burger patty.”

Following its success on U.S. menus, the fast-food chain launched the Beyond Famous Star in all of its 21 locations in Canada.

In 2019, the burger chain followed up the Beyond Famous Star by introducing the Beyond BBQ Cheeseburger. It features the Beyond Burger on a sesame seed bun, dressed with barbecue sauce, American cheese, and onion rings. The burger is an “indulgent flexitarian” take on its Western Bacon Cheeseburger, according to the brand. 

Earlier this year, the company took things up a notch, launching the Beyond Fiery Famous Star Burger. It features a charbroiled Beyond Meat patty, dairy-based pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, sliced onion, lettuce, and tomatoes.
