Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton has written a new children’s book about endangered animals. The book, “Don’t Let Them Disappear!” is set for a spring 2019 release date.
Her fifth children’s book is set to explore 12 endangered species including whales and tigers and how humans can take steps to protect their habitats. In a statement, Clinton said the animals focused on in the book are in “desperate need of our attention.”
Clinton’s “Start Now! You Can Make A Difference,” which was released in October, briefly touches on animal extinction as well, but in large part, “Don’t Let Them Disappear!” is expected to be a departure from her other children’s books which have all centered on political activism.
“I found books really empowering as a kid and hope that this book helps empower kids today,” the former first daughter and mother of two, now 38, told PEOPLE magazine in October.

“[My kids] love being read to and talking about what they’re reading in books,” she explains. “Particularly for young readers, books are not only a way to help break down and communicate ideas [but] stories of real empowerment.”
Clinton, like her parents, isn’t shy when it comes to addressing global issues such as world hunger, bullying, climate change, and endangered species. She says she aims to inspire her audience to make changes.
“I am incredibly hopeful because as you listen to [kid activists] and you understand their work, you can’t be anything but hopeful,” Clinton says about the prospects for the future. “That doesn’t mean that there aren’t real challenges. I’m just inspired by how many young people are unwilling to accept the status quo.”
Clinton has authored four books since 2015 including “She Persisted: 13 American Women Who Changed the World” in 2017 and “She Persisted Around the World: 13 Women Who Changed History” released earlier this year.
“Don’t Let Them Disappear!” is slated for an April 2, 2019 release.
