Is the ColourPop Animal Crossing Collection Vegan?

Colourpop is known for its iconic collaborations. From Hocus Pocus to The Mandalorian, the cruelty-free makeup brand has sussed the formula for best-selling partnerships: take a cult classic, or the movie or series of the moment, and build a creative range of top-quality, high-performing products around it. But with one of its latest partnerships, ColourPop has gone slightly off-piste. For the first time ever, the brand has built a collection around a video game. The ColourPop Animal Crossing: New Horizons range launched earlier this year.

Nintendo released Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch last March. It provided the ultimate digital utopia of escapism for many at a time when the word “lockdown” was entering regular global vernacular.

A year on, the video game is still popular with millions of users around the world. It’s cute, it’s innocent, it’s cheerful, and it’s colourful, so, really, it’s of no surprise that it’s the basis of a new ColourPop range.

Is the ColourPop Animal Crossing Collection Vegan?

There are 11 new products in the ColourPop Animal Crossing collection, all of which are cruelty-free. (The brand notes on its website: “We are 100% fur baby friendly, bunny approved, and only test our products on humans – the ones in our HQ to be exact.”)

Not all of the items in the new range are vegan, but there are still quite a few animal-free options to choose from. These include the Fruit Basket, Fruit Roots, and Pick of the Bunch lip tint duos. With a hydrating and lightweight formula, the tints add a hint of color to your lips and they feel moisturizing too.

There’s also vibrant, sparkly vegan glitter gel-paste in cute Bell (aka Animal Crossing currency) packaging, aptly named Bellionare.

Other vegan products include the Flower Tender pressed powder blush, and the Nook Inc and What a Hoot eye shadow palettes. The former features warm nude tones and the latter is all about the sparkly and matte sea greens.

To check it out for yourself, you can shop the full collection directly from the ColourPop website.
