Dominos Launches 3 Cheesy Vegan Pizzas – and One With Avocado!

Following a record number of Australians choosing to eat vegan last Christmas – popular pizza chain Dominos have officially launched not one, but three vegan pizzas in their Australian stores- with vegan garlic bread to go with it.

All of Dominos’ vegan pizzas come with Follow Your Heart’s vegan mozzarella (which is also gluten-free, preservative-free, non-GMO, cholesterol-free, and soy-free), a deal consistent across all locations in Australia. Prices start at $7.95 – customers can choose from The Vegan Avocado Veg, The Vegan Margherita, and The Vegan Spicy Trio.

Arguably the star of the show, Dominos’ Vegan Avocado Veg comes with fire roasted peppers, red onions, capsicum, olives, mushrooms, and spring onion. Atop The Vegan Spicy Trio is fresh tomato, baby spinach, red onion, and chilli flakes. The Vegan Margherita has vegan mozzarella, fresh tomato, and oregano, just like the original would.

As part of Dominos’ scheme to be more inclusive of modern diets, all pizza bases and sauces are free from animal products. Dairy-free customers or those looking to reduce dairy cheese consumption can ask for regular mozzarella to be swapped for vegan mozzarella on any pizza, for a surcharge of $2.95.

Domino’s CEO of Australia and New Zealand, Nick Knight said: ‘This is also great news for people with allergies and food sensitivities as it contains no dairy, gluten, or soy’. He adds the decision to launch these new vegan options and add vegan cheese comes after a FaceBook customer survey last year revealed the overwhelming demand for plant-based pizza options.

Knight adds this vegan cheese was tested in the company’s “LuvLab” kitchen – testing determined the taste, texture and importantly the melt of this cheese was the same as dairy-based cheese.

Although Domino’s will only be offering vegan cheese for a limited time – if customers love it as much as they say they do, Knight said it will hit the menu permanently.
