American actor and film producer Jessica Chastain just became a vegan mommy, welcoming a baby girl with her husband Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo.

Almost eighteen months after marrying the Moncler fashion executive, Chastain has been spotted with a new addition to the family: baby Giulietta Passi Chastain, born via surrogate.

Famously private about her personal life, little was revealed about the pregnancy or birth of the child. However, Page Six reports that the couple was spotted out with their new daughter, believed to be four months old, in New York this week.

Little Giulietta is also said to have been travelling alongside her mom while the Califonia-born star films various projects; Chastain was seen pushing a stroller in Boston a month ago while filming the upcoming movie, “Eve.” The mother-baby duo was also spotted in Paris at a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at department store Galeries Lafayette.

The animal-lover has been vegan for more than a decade and is known for advocating shelter animal adoptions and praising cruelty-free products.

Chastain has also raved about plant-based food, recently telling her Instagram followers that “Sundays are for vegan banana pancakes” and sharing a recipe.

A passionate plant-based foodie since she realised pescetarianism was not energising her enough, Chastain told W Magazine last year: I was really low on energy….my cholesterol was very high and the doctor wanted to put me on medicine.” Following a two-week vegan food program, Chastain “immediately…had more energy than…ever” – medicine-free.

Though the vegan actor has not confirmed whether Giulietta will also adopt a plant-based diet, it is speculated that this is likely.

CELEBS BOSSING VEGAN PARENTING

Vegan parenting is all the rage in the celeb world. Actor, animal rights activist, and plant-based health guru Alicia Silverstone appeared in a YouTube video with plant-based vlogger Ellen Fisher, where the pair bonded over raising vegan children.

Silverstone was actually inspired to create her vegan vitamin line, MyKind Organics, when she was pregnant with her son, Bear, paving the way to make prenatal nutrition easier for other pregnant vegans.

Pregnant vegan celebrity entrepreneur, Kat Von D, has also openly announced her intention to raise her baby vegan. She implored people to hold back on criticising vegan parents, saying “This is my body. This is our child. And this is our pregnancy journey.”
