Miley Cyrus and Alicia Silverstone Urge L.A. to Protect Animals Amid Wildfire

Celebrities, including Miley Cyrus and Alicia Silverstone, are reminding California citizens to keep their doors and hearts open during the devastating impacts of the fires crossing the region.

Posts are being circulated on social media platforms to remind those living nearby the fires, to be mindful that wild animals “are scared, exhausted, and have also lost their homes – they need to refuel”.

The alerts recommend leaving buckets of water outside and to “let the wild animals pass through” yards as they flee the fires.

The California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection has reminded those affected to bring their pets indoors and tend to livestock if safe to do so.

Various organisations have taken in hundreds of affected animals and are working tirelessly to rehabilitate and protect them. If you would like to assist, the following organisations are seeking supplies, donations and volunteers:

Humane Society of VC
Citizens for a Humane Los Angeles
SD Humane Society
Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation

And for a list of animal shelters in the region, see here.

Please stay safe, and ensure any actions taken to save or care for wildlife and pets are not at the cost of your own life.
