Vegan Fashion Designer Stella McCartney Launches Diversity-Focused Breast Cancer Campaign

Vegan fashion designer Stella McCartney has launched a new breast cancer awareness campaign starring the award-winning actor Idris Elba.

The campaign consists of a short film and a series of images titled “All is Love,” which sees survivors – both men and women – join together to share their stories. “Honest, confident, and inspiring, it sheds light on the devastating disease, a cause very personal to both Idris and Stella,” notes the brands’ website.

Throughout the film, Elba voices a short poem by the spoken word performer Kai Isiah Jamal. The campaign aims to empower survivors and shows women display their mastectomy scars proudly. It also aims to “challenge the taboo surrounding men talking about breasts openly with their partners,” and remind people that breast cancer affects men too, as well as women.

McCartney lost her mother Linda McCartney, a musician, photographer, and animal rights activist, to breast cancer in 1998. Through her work, McCartney has continued her mother’s mission to spread compassion, and her fashion brand continues to launch sustainable and vegan-friendly collections regularly. Most recently, the Stella McCartney brand collaborated with Adidas to launch the first-ever vegan leather Stan Smith shoe.

An exhibition showcasing the All Is Love campaign is currently being held at the Stella McCartney Old Bond Street store in Westminster, where the campaign limited edition bandana will be available to purchase. The bandana is also available in other select stores and online.

The “Rose Romancing” bra and pants charity set, the profits from which benefit a number of breast cancer charities worldwide, is also available online. Further, the “Louise Listening” post double mastectomy compression bra will be available on request from October 15th. For those in need, this bra is available for free from Stella McCartney Cares, a platform dedicated to the prevention, early detection, and treatment of breast cancer.
