How to Make Vegan Candy Apples for Halloween

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 10 minutes | Makes 16 slices

1 cup (200g) pure cane sugar
3 tablespoons water
2 red apples
2 green apples
16 lollipop sticks
Sprinkles, chocolate chips, and chopped nuts for topping

  • Combine cane sugar, and water in a saucepan and place over medium heat. Bring to a boil, watching closely, and cook until medium brown in color (five to six minutes total).
  • Remove the caramel from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  • Slice apples into four slices, cutting all the way through the apple. Remove any seeds. Insert a stick into the center of each apple slice. Working one at a time over the pan, coat each apple slice in caramel while the caramel is still warm, allowing excess to drip off. If it is too thick to glaze, reheat slightly.
  • Immediately top glazed apples with toppings and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool before serving.
