Vegan Beauty Brand, ColourPop, Launches Across U.S. Ulta Stores

The products of “cruelty-free, wallet-friendly” makeup company, ColourPop, will be on the shelves of U.S. beauty chain, Ulta, as of tomorrow. ColourPop strives to create luxury beauty items that come without the luxury price tag. Vibrant eyeshadow palettes, lip gloss, and highlighters are among the line’s best-selling items.

“We’re thrilled to enter Ulta Beauty doors and bring the ColourPop experience to a new set of beauty lovers,” said Laura Nelson, the Co-Founder and President of the brand. She added, “As ColourPop continues to expand and branch out into new product categories, specifically in the complexion space, we wanted to provide an in-store experience that allows consumers to experiment and play in real life with our portfolio of cult favorite products for the first time.”

Beauty giant Ulta, are equally as pleased with the new arrangement. “We are delighted to announce the addition of ColourPop’s innovative and trendsetting products to our assortment at Ulta Beauty,” stated Monica Arnaudo, senior vice president of merchandising for Ulta Beauty. Arnaudo continued in the press statement, “ColourPop is a brand that has been consistently requested by our guests and we look forward to providing an in-store experience that offers our guests the ability to test, try and play with these products.”

Another affordable vegan beauty brand, The Lip Bar, recently announced a planned launch across Target stores this spring. The founder, Melissa Butler, stated, “responsibly made cosmetics shouldn’t be for the privileged, so each of our products are affordable.”

Through avoidance of animal testing; brands such as The Lip Bar and California based ColourPop show that it is possible to enjoy makeup without breaking the bank or harming any animals in the process. While ColourPop is PETA certified and cruelty-free, some items are not completely vegan. That list is available here.

In the state of California, it is proposed that all brands follow ColourPop’s lead. New legislation that would ban animal testing altogether has been put forward by Californian lawmakers, it is hoped that the bill will be implemented from January 1, 2020.
