How Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth Do Vegan Thanksgiving

Vegan power couple Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are set to dazzle their families with their plant-based dishes this Thanksgiving. Brandi Cyrus, Miley’s older sister, recently told US Weekly that when the family gathers for the holiday, Miley and her actor fiancé bring their own vegan dishes.

Explaining how the holiday is an important event for the Cyrus family, Brandi said, “Thanksgiving and Christmas are the two times a year that usually my whole family gets together.”

The tradition involves conventional Thanksgiving dishes. “We have had the exact same meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas since I can ever remember, and it’s so simple. It’s just turkey and mashed potatoes and green beans and stuffing,” she said. “We never do anything different. We never venture out.”

However, Miley is throwing a spanner in the works and adding some new options to the Thanksgiving table. Brandi explained, “Miley and Liam are both vegan, so they [are] bringing some vegan dishes now to throw into the mix.”

Last year, Miley had a successful plant-based Thanksgiving, where she celebrated vegan meat brand Tofurky on Instagram. The celeb also celebrated her 26th birthday this holiday, with a custom vegan cake and family.

Besides the opportunity to devour a vegan holiday feast, Thanksgiving should bring Miley and her loved ones some relief; the couple recently lost their California home in the Woolsey fires. Despite the tragedy, Miley remained thankful that she was able to rescue her pets and keep her family safe.

Celebs Celebrate Vegan Thanksgiving

Miley Cyrus and Hemsworth are not the only celebs celebrating Thanksgiving with plant-based food.

Filmmaker, comedian, and recent plant-based convert Kevin Smith is encouraging Americans to skip the turkey this Thanksgiving and instead choose compassion. Alongside his vegan daughter Harley Quinn Smith, Smith signed on as a spokesperson for America’s first shelter for rescued animals, Farm Sanctuary. Celebrating the 33rd annual Adopt a Turkey Project, the Smiths are urging people to appreciate turkeys as sentient individuals and not as Thanksgiving dinners.

Similarly, veggie “Big Bang Theory” actor Kaley Cuoco teamed with Farm Sanctuary to promote the adoption – rather than the slaughter – of turkeys this Thanksgiving.
