Vevolution Festival 2017: The Vegan Event That’s Not Just for Vegans

This year, Vevolution Festival is back and it’s looking pretty good! The event, which has previously been described as vegan TED talks, is set to feature some big names such as Nathan Runkle, founder of Mercy for Animals, and Made in Chelsea star Lucy Watson.

The best part about Vevolution? It’s not just for vegans.

The pair behind one of the most anticipated vegan events of the year are Damien Clarkson and Judy Nadel. Damien, vegan of 4.5 years, and Judy, vegan for 2 years and 8 months loved the number of vegan events popping up all over London, but they felt that there was something missing. They were both keen to promote veganism, but didn’t see anywhere that was inviting to non-vegans.

Their combined working backgrounds made them the perfect team so they started to plan something that would fill the gap in the market.

Beginning with Vegan Futures in 2015, an event which brought ‘together the best thinkers in the plant-based movement,’ Damien and Judy started to bring new kinds of vegan events to London. It was a huge success and actually sold out. Since then they have hosted an additional five sold out events, including Vevolution Festival 2016.

So far this year, the pair have put on four evenings that tackled different vegan-related topics; Fashion, Health & Wellbeing, Food Innovation and Activism.

Their aim is for the festival is to create an inclusive space that allows for people to explore veganism and plant-based food, without fear of being reprimanded for not having already made the jump into veganism. When you walk into the festival you will ‘leave your judgement at the door’ says Damien.

Even the name of the event has been carefully selected so as not to put off non-vegans, by not actually including the word ‘vegan’ in the title. Damien and Judy believe that veganism is the next step of the human race’s evolution and using the very technical ‘word mash’ approach to naming their event decided ‘Vevolution’ was perfect.

Vevolution Festival 2017, which will take place on November 25th, will feature a variety of talks, workshops and of course vegan food. There will also be an afterparty held at veggie restaurant Ethos, where you’ll have the opportunity to sample some more plant-based deliciousness.

So far around 30% of the tickets sold for this year’s event have been sold to non-vegans, so if you’re thinking of attending but you’re totally new to the plant-based world, you’ll be far from alone.

Some activists believe that veganism must be tackled with an absolutist approach, which often involves shaming people who don’t immediately switch to a vegan lifestyle. However, Damien and Judy say they understand that veganism is a journey and it’s completely different for everyone. They themselves had both been vegetarian before making the switch to veganism.

Vevolution Festival is set to be an amazing day full of inspiring people, and Damien and Judy have an exciting announcement to make which you’ll be the first to hear if you attend!

Tickets are selling fast so be sure to grab yours before it’s too late.
